Jack-o’-lanterns lit with flameless instead of burning candles would go a long way toward removing Halloween as the fourth-highest day for candle fires.
Flameless candles now look and smell like burning ones and decorators don’t have to fret about leaving them unattended, positioning them too close to combustibles or knocking them over – the three biggest reasons for candle fires.
Combustible decorations like these should not only be kept at least three feet away from heat sources, they should also be set up by using no more than three strings of light in each extension cord.
