Swooping In to a Young Hawk’s Rescue
SCE crew works with Fontana officials to safely return a fallen young bird to its nest.

The two-man crew was lifted about 60 feet up to the transmission tower to return the red-tailed hawk to its nest, which included its mother and another young hawk.
SCE lineman, John Egan, and senior transmission patrolman Mike Ward, right, successfully returned the red-tailed hawk to its nest via a bucket truck.
Fontana animal services officer Jamie Simmons, holding the young red-tailed hawk, had secured it safely in a compartment in her vehicle until she and an SCE crew determined how to reintroduce it to its nest.
